Crush posted this on his story after ITZY’s Ryujin controversially mentioned him and Red Velvet’s Joy on V Live

While Ryujin is embroiled in controversy for mentioning Joy and Crush during a V Live, Crush updated his story with these messages.

On October 4, ITZY’s Ryujin listened to Crush‘s song while talking with fans in a V Live broadcast. While reading the fans’ comments in real time, Ryujin read out and laughed at a comment that said, “Crush has to pay more taxes.”

The comment is a “meme” created by netizens when Crush and Red Velvet’s Joy were first confirmed to be dating. It is a joke that Crush has to pay more taxes because his girlfriend Joy is pretty and attractive.

When Ryujin read this comment, Yeji, who was sitting next to her, asked “What is that?” Yeji probably didn’t understand the meaning of this joke. Ryujin then whispered to Yeji, “Because (Crush) is dating Joy sunbaenim.”

Although Ryujin only whispered, she was later criticized by netizens for being rude and thoughtless. Criticisms such as “Why did she mention the dating of idols from other companies?”, “She was rude”, “If it’s really a mistake, you should be careful in the future”, “Why would you read that comment when you yourself are dating too?”, were posted online.

After this situation became controversial, on October 5th, Crush drew attention by showing his “reaction” implicitly on Instagram. As Crush’s story was posted after Ryujin’s incident, suspicions arose that he was actually targeting Ryujin.

In multiple Instagram stories on October 5th, Crush said, “No matter what you look like, kindness makes you the most beautiful person in the world”, “You have to learn how to be gentle, love and forgive yourself. Only those who treat themselves with the right attitude can treat others with the right attitude,”, “Happiness is attitude”, etc.

While there is a lot of debate about whether his story was referring to the joke Ryujin read out or not, the truth is that only Crush knows.

Joy and Crush started dating publicly in August of last year. They first worked together in May 2020 in Crush’s single “Mayday” and developed into lovers.
