On August 18, at the debut album showcase for Color Outside the Lines held at Salt Travel Hall in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, CORTIS said, “It would be a lie to say we don’t feel any pressure. We are working with a sense of responsibility, so please watch over us.”
CORTIS is the first boy group launched by BigHit Music in six years since TXT’s debut. Their team name, taken irregularly from the six letters of Color Outside the Lines, symbolizes “thinking freely beyond the standards and rules set by the world.”
The group has already drawn attention as the “younger siblings” of BTS and TXT. Members Martin and James even participated in hit tracks by HYBE seniors, such as ILLIT’s Magnetic, before their debut, proving their musical skills.
Being the youngest in the BigHit lineup, the members expressed mixed feelings of pressure and excitement. Leader Martin said, “It would be a lie to say we don’t feel pressure. Thanks to the outstanding seniors, we are motivated to work responsibly and do our best, so please watch us.”
Juhoon added, “It would be a lie to say we feel no pressure. But we are grateful to debut under BigHit Music. Even as rookies, being able to participate in the album process is rare, and we are thankful for that. With this gratitude, we will work even harder as CORTIS.”
The group also shared advice received from BTS and TXT. Seonghyeon said, “We were lucky to meet some seniors. BTS members cheered us on, and TXT gave us practical feedback on our performances, such as adjusting expressions and adding details to each stage. It was very helpful.”
Martin recalled, “I met BTS members at J-Hope’s concert, and one piece of advice that really stuck with me was to be grateful for what we have and never take it for granted. That encouragement motivates us to work even harder, and we are very thankful.”
CORTIS officially released their debut album Color Outside the Lines, including the title track What You Want, at 6 p.m. on the same day.
