EXO has been actively engaged in diverse solo projects, sparking discussions about their future with the agency SM Entertainment.
Recent headlines stated that Chanyeol and Sehun reached an agreement with SM Entertainment to leave the agency and join new ones for their solo careers. However, SM Entertainment refuted these claims, clarifying that the contracts with EXO members are still valid, and EXO’s activities under SM’s management will continue.
SM Entertainment added that members could, under certain conditions, carry out individual activities through corporations established by themselves within the scope of their exclusive contracts with the agency.
This is not the first time that rumors of EXO members leaving have emerged in 2023. Last June, Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin (EXO-CBX) notified SM Entertainment of their intention to terminate their exclusive contracts, citing differences in views due to issues such as the lack of disclosure of settlement data. However, this dispute was later resolved, and the members issued a joint statement stating that misunderstandings had been resolved.
In August, Baekhyun also announced plans to establish his company, emphasizing that it would not mean his departure from EXO and that he would continue his activities both independently and with the group.
Despite the recurrent separation rumors, all members have consistently emphasized their commitment to EXO. As the group marks its 11th anniversary in 2023, fans remain curious about the members’ future activities, especially Chen and Xiumin, whose contracts are due to expire soon, and Baekhyun, whose contract expires in January next year.
