Chuu found not guilty of tampering, no basis for double contract

Former LOONA member Chuu has been deemed innocent against tampering claims from her previous agency, BlockBerry Creative.

According to an industry insider on April 4th, Korea Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) recently determined that there is insufficient evidence regarding the double contract that BlockBerry claimed against Chuu.

However, the insider also stated that this issue should be judged in the main lawsuit, which is underway in the judiciary, not by KEMA.

Back in December last year, BlockBerry submitted a petition, where they demanded a ban on Chuu’s entertainment activities. According to the agency, this was due to Chuu’s alleged prior contact (tampering) with another agency, BYFOM, before her exclusive contract with BlockBerry expired.

However, KEMA reportedly did not acknowledge the pre-contact between Chuu and BYFOM as claimed by BlockBerry. This was because there was no evidence to verify it.

In addition, it is said that KEMA took a cautious stance, considering that the double contract issue, which BlockBerry repeatedly emphasized, is a legal matter to be scrutinized.

The conflict between Chuu and BlockBerry surfaced in January last year. At the time, Chuu filed an injunction application to suspend the effectiveness of her exclusive contract with BlockBerry.

Subsequently, BlockBerry expelled Chuu from the LOONA, claiming that she had verbally abused and mistreated company staff. Chuu refuted this claim, saying she had “never done anything shameful.”

Meanwhile, Chuu continues her activities through her personal channel “Protect Chuu”. It is also known that several LOONA members, excluding Chuu, filed injunction applications against BlockBerry to suspend the effectiveness of their exclusive contracts as well. Among them, 4 four members, including Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry, won the case.
