Veteran actor Chow Yun-fat has stunned the public with his youthful transformation at age 70. Spotted jogging on the streets on November 18, the legendary star appeared in robust health tanned, toned, and sporting a fresh, youthful look that quickly sparked admiration online.
Observers noted noticeable changes: a fuller physique, neatly dyed black hair replacing his once-silver mane, and a clean face. The actor’s radiant appearance left many commenting that he seemed to be “aging in reverse.”
Just last year, Chow looked alarmingly thin due to his intense marathon training. He had lost so much weight that veins on his arms became prominent, and he developed varicose veins in his legs. Today, after scaling back on long-distance running, he’s regained about 10 kilograms, and his complexion has visibly improved.

According to Chinese media outlet QQ, the transformation is partly tied to his latest film project, Detective Chinatown 1900, which required a significant change in his physical appearance. To embody the role, Chow committed to a strict bulking regime starting last year. He hired a personal nutritionist, adopted a high-protein diet, and maintained a balanced workout routine to gain weight healthily. Despite the physical changes, he continues his regular morning jogs and sticks to a light, disciplined diet.
Chow remains actively involved in the entertainment industry. He’s set to appear as a presenter at the upcoming MAMA Awards, scheduled for November 29 at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong. This marks his first return to the stage in a decade, since his last appearance in 2015.
Born in 1955, Chow joined TVB in 1974 and rose to fame through series like The Bund, Hotel, and The Yang’s Saga. In cinema, he became a global icon with roles in A Better Tomorrow, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and God of Gamblers.

Chow married twice his first marriage to ATV actress Candice Yu lasted only nine months. In 1986, he married Singaporean police officer Jasmine Tan, who remains his wife today.
Despite his fame, Chow Yun-fat is beloved for his humble lifestyle. He’s often seen riding the subway, hiking, shopping at local markets, using an old mobile phone, and wearing affordable sportswear. With a fortune estimated at over HKD 5.6 billion, Chow has long pledged to donate his entire wealth to charity, stating he has no intention of leaving an inheritance.
