On June 10, MBN’s official online channel Exclusive World uploaded a video titled “Choi Cheol Ho, Who Disappeared After Assaulting a Female Junior, Now Living Through Night Loading Work.” The episode shed light on the actor’s difficult circumstances in recent years.
In the video, Choi Cheol Ho appeared almost unrecognizable from his days as a successful actor, working tirelessly at a logistics center. Sweating through physically demanding labor, he explained that he currently unloads parcel boxes arriving in shipping containers before they are sorted by region, often working overnight shifts.

Reflecting on when he first started the job, he admitted, “At first, I had no idea what I was doing. By the second day, my hands had swollen badly. I thought I wouldn’t be able to continue, but after a few days, I adapted.” He candidly shared the physical pain and challenges he had to overcome.

Behind his decision to enter such demanding labor was a series of hardships. Choi revealed that acting opportunities gradually became scarce, leading him to start a business to support his family. However, financial difficulties worsened due to multiple setbacks, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I ended up with debts I simply couldn’t handle,” he confessed. “Eventually, I even had to give up the house we were living in.”

The actor explained that he sent his wife and child to stay with his in-laws, while his elderly parents were moved into a nursing facility. Feeling lost as the head of the household, he said a younger acquaintance involved in theater told him he could earn daily wages through part-time work at a logistics center.
“I wasn’t in a position to be picky,” he admitted, describing the desperation he felt at the time.

Choi Cheol Ho currently lives in a tiny one-room apartment with a roommate, in an environment so modest that he reportedly does not even own a microwave and heats instant rice using hot water. Despite his difficult financial situation, he sends nearly all of his earnings to his wife and family while also taking on occasional car-washing jobs to fulfill his responsibilities as a provider.
The actor also addressed the 2010 incident that drastically changed the course of his life, when he was involved in an assault case involving a female junior colleague while intoxicated.

Looking back with regret, Choi said, “When a reporter called me after the incident, I lied without even hesitating for a second and said nothing had happened. That was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It should never have happened.”
He continued, “I learned that every mistake comes with consequences.” The actor shared that he now frequently visits church, spending time in prayer and repentance.

As Choi Cheol Ho continues to endure hardship while sincerely reflecting on his past mistakes, viewers have turned their attention to whether the actor may one day stand before audiences again.
