Chinese netizens are furious at rumors of Tang Wei being asked to change her nationality to Korean
Whether in Korea or China, Chinese actress Tang Wei and Korean director Kim Tae-yong continue to gather attention.
Recently, the Chinese seem to be particularly sensitive to Tang Wei‘s “nationality.”
On March 6th, Chinese media outlet Tencent reported a rumor about Tang Wei’s nationality.
The media said Tang Wei’s mother-in-law asked her to change her nationality to Korean.
Tencent even reported the actress’s mother-in-law saying, “Since the two have married and settled in Korea, why don’t you change your nationality and live with us (in-laws)?”
It also claimed that Tang Wei replied, “I have never thought about changing my nationality and I will not change it in the past, now or in the future,” along with the promise to do her best for her family.
Of course, it is not clear whether this conversation existed or where it was reported.
Whether or not Tang Wei was asked to change her nationality, it seems certain that she gave birth to a daughter, stayed in Korea for a long time, filmed Korean movies, enjoyed her country life, and did her best for her husband, director Kim Tae-yong‘s family.
Recently, as Tang Wei‘s stay in China became longer, Chinese media raised rumors of separation between the two.
“My marriage is stable and I’m very happy,” Tang Wei explained to local media in China, and also posted photos of three pairs of feet on her SNS account, resolving rumors of discord.
