The personal lives of Chen Diya and Carrie Yeo, the iconic members of Singaporean music duo The Freshman, have recently ignited a wave of public curiosity and speculation. With 15 years of close professional and personal companionship, rumors have erupted suggesting the two may be in a same-sex relationship.

Known for their seamless musical chemistry and enduring friendship, the two have been practically inseparable both on and off stage since forming The Freshman in 2010. Their bond has fueled growing speculation in Singaporean media that they might be more than just musical partners particularly in recent weeks as dating rumors intensified.

On November 27, entertainment outlet Koreaboo reported that Chen Diya and Carrie Yeo appeared on a YouTube talk show where they directly addressed the romance rumors for the first time. Both women firmly denied any romantic involvement.

Carrie Yeo broke the tension with a humorous jab, saying, “We’re really not a couple like everyone thinks. I’d probably cough up blood if I dated her!” Her candid remark drew laughs and helped clear the air.

The duo also opened up about their current relationship status. Both confirmed that they are single. Carrie Yeo shared that she has had her fair share of romantic experiences and is currently uninterested in dating. “I’ve had enough. I’m content and honestly kind of sick of dating right now,” she admitted.

On the other hand, Chen Diya expressed a more open attitude toward romance but emphasized the importance of letting things unfold naturally. “Love isn’t something you can force. I’m grateful to have Carrie to share all the little things in life with. Honestly, I don’t feel lonely at all,” she said warmly.

Born in 1985, Chen Diya holds a degree in Communication from Nanyang Technological University. Carrie Yeo, born in 1981, graduated with a Literature degree from the National University of Singapore.

Their journey began in 2007 when both won top honors on MediaCorp’s Project SuperStar 2, paving the way for their debut as The Freshman in 2010. Since then, the duo has been actively involved in the Singapore music scene, earning respect not only for their talent but also for their enduring partnership.
