Cha Eunwoo’s Solo Debut Album Was A Failure? Netizens Shocked by Low Numbers

Despite his immense popularity, Cha Eunwoo did not enjoy great success with his solo debut album, raising questions.

On February 15, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo dropped his solo debut album, “ENTITY”, along with the title track “Stay”. As Cha Eunwoo is an extremely popular celebrity both in and outside of Korea, many people expect that the male idol will enjoy great success with this pivotal project.

However, “Stay” debuted with only 138,793 streams on Spotify. Additionally, the song is also not charting well on Korean music platforms.

Regarding physical sales, “ENTITY” only sold 41,037 copies on its first day of release, and as of February 18, has still not reached 200,000 copies.

The low numbers regarding Cha Eunwoo’s solo release has thus sparked questions among netizens.

According to them, Cha Eunwoo has over 40 million followers on Instagram, and even his Instagram post promoting “Stay” attracted 4 million likes.

With such numbers, Cha Eunwoo should have been able to attain at least 1 million streams, instead of the number he ended up getting.

“This man literally has 50 million followers and not even half of them bothered to stream his song, just a bunch of delusional visual stans. I fear some male idols are NEVER escaping this curse”, one netizen posted on SNS platform X, receiving almost 20,000 likes and over 1 million views.

Meanwhile, some are defending Cha Eunwoo by explaining that most of Cha Eunwoo’s fanbase comes from his acting projects, so it’s normal that his music releases do not enjoy the same level of fame.
