Cha Eunwoo Shed Tears over the Late Moonbin, “Saying ‘It’s Okay’ isn’t Easy”

Appearing on “Lee Hyori’s Late Carpet”, Cha Eunwoo opened up about his thoughts reflected in his solo album.

On February 23, KBS 2TV’s “The Seasons – Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet” featured Um Jung-hwa, Enhypen, Cha Eunwoo, and LE SSERAFIM as guests.

Here, Cha Eunwoo presented a reinterpretation of Lee Hyori’s hit song “10 Minutes” with his own color. Seeing Cha Eunwoo, Lee Hyori smiled and praised the idol-actor for his visuals, saying, “I don’t want to judge solely on appearance, but he’s really good-looking. Wearing all white, he looks like he came down from the sky.”

When asked if he ever felt uncomfortable because of his good looks, Cha Eunwoo responded, “There were times in the past when I felt uncomfortable, as I prepared something else that I want people to see, only for it to go unnoticed. That made me sad. Now, I’m grateful”.

On the other hand, Cha Eunwoo introduced his solo debut album “ENTITY” released on the 15th of February, saying, “It’s a precious album that honestly expresses the feelings I’ve had as Dongmin, my real name, up to now”.

“I like writing, so I participated in the lyrics for this album”, he added.

When Lee Hyori asked if he felt comfortable releasing the album, Cha Eunwoo replied, “I had things I wanted to say, but I found it difficult. I felt a strong desire to prepare, even if it meant sacrificing sleep. I prepared sincerely, even if it took a long time.”

Cha Eunwoo then expressed his desire to appear on “Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet.”

In particular, the idol-actor explained, “I hope this album doesn’t feel too commercial. I told the company I don’t want overly promotional activities. I’d like it to do well, but I’m not eager to push it.”.

“Last year was not an easy year for me personally”, Cha Eunwoo also explained, hesitating as if he remembered the late ASTRO member Moonbin, who passed away last year.

According to Cha Eunwoo, it was tough to prepare his solo album and he cried a lot, but he prepared it with the hope that it would be conveyed well. When asked if he felt better after the album release and singing at the fan concert, Cha Eunwoo replied, “I think it’s something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Saying ‘it’s okay, it’s getting better’ isn’t easy, but if I continue to do what I can in my place, things might improve. So, I’ll work harder.”

Earlier, during a solo fan concert, Cha Eunwoo broke into tears while singing “Where am I.” When Lee Hyori asked if he could sing it without accompaniment?, Cha Eunwoo hesitated, saying, “I might cry again.”

Encouraging him to be brave, Lee Hyori said, “Be brave and just sing it. Say what you want to say.” Although he started singing, Cha Eunwoo couldn’t continue and stopped with tears in his eyes. Lee Hyori cheered him on, saying, “Sing this song someday without crying.”

Finally, when Lee Hyori asked how Cha Eunwoo felt about being in the industry for 9 years, he replied, “When I see my juniors, I want to buy them delicious food”.
