Cha Eun-woo’s life in the military has begun, and his fans are already receiving lighthearted and touching updates. The ASTRO member enlisted on July 28 at the Army Training Center in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do, and is currently undergoing basic military training before continuing his service in the army band.
Fellow ASTRO member Yoon San-ha recently shared a candid update through a fan communication platform. “On Saturday, out of nowhere, Eun-woo texted the group chat saying, ‘How did MJ do this? Please save me,'” he revealed, referring to ASTRO’s eldest member MJ, who was discharged from military service on November 8, 2023. San-ha caused laughter as he added, “Even our physically strong hyung must be struggling,” though he assured fans that Cha Eun-woo seems to be adjusting well overall.
Adding to the anecdotes, a netizen recounted that her boyfriend currently in training spotted Cha Eun-woo at a military chapel. According to her, one drill instructor had to tell curious onlookers, “Please stop staring. He’s a human too,” drawing both amusement and sympathy online.
Cha Eun-woo made headlines on enlistment day, not just for his star status but also for the show of support from his bandmates and friends. ASTRO members, including San-ha, and Weki Meki’s Choi Yoo-jung accompanied him to the base. San-ha even wore a custom shirt printed with the words “Clothes you wear when sending someone to the army” and a childhood photo of Cha Eun-woo, endearing many fans.
