A shocking revelation from an anonymous celebrity manager has shed light on the hidden realities of the Korean entertainment industry, sparking widespread discussion and concern among fans and insiders alike.
On April 22, a video titled “A Famous Celebrity Manager Reveals the Reality of the Industry” was uploaded to YouTube channel 직업의 모든 것.
In the interview, a manager identified only as “A” claimed that staff members are sometimes forced to take the blame for celebrities’ wrongdoing.
“The most common case is drunk driving,” A revealed. “Before the news breaks, a manager may step in and say they were the one driving. They even receive money for it.”

The manager added that low wages often pressure staff into accepting such risky arrangements.
A also admitted to participating in proxy prescription practices, where medication is obtained under someone else’s name an issue that has recently gained public attention in South Korea.
“I’ve done it myself,” A confessed, claiming to possess KakaoTalk messages as evidence of such activities.
Perhaps more disturbing were allegations about agency monitoring practices.
According to A, companies may go as far as inspecting vehicle black boxes and planting recording devices: “They checked everything. An old phone was found in the car it had a recording function on, used to monitor what the manager said when alone.”

These claims suggest a culture of intense control and mistrust within agencies.
The revelations didn’t stop there. A described additional duties beyond typical management work, including:
- Handling celebrities’ personal relationships
- Booking private rooms and arranging logistics
- Purchasing sensitive items upon request
The manager also alleged that entertainment-related hosting and entertainment hospitality culture still exists at higher executive levels, though junior managers are often excluded from such settings.
This latest revelation adds to a growing list of controversies questioning how the entertainment industry operates behind closed doors.
