However, in Park Min Young’s recent appearances, it seems that the actress is having to deal with complications from the past as they either looked extremely stunning or entirely different.

Park Min Young once won a spot in various hit series such as “High Kick!” “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” “City Hunter” and “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.” Nonetheless, the actress’ recent dramas witnessed a steep decrease in ratings.
“Her Private Life” in 2019 only achieved a rating of 2.6% and the rating for “When The Weather Is Fine” hit a new bottom at 2.2%. Min Young was also criticized for being boxed into a familiar role within the romantic-comedy genre, lacking newness in her acting performances.
Last year, “Forecasting Love and Weather” reached a rating of 6.7%. Yet, her following series “Love In Contract” only achieved a 3% rating, an alarming figure for the actress.
Controversial relationship with the virtual-currency giant and news on being summoned for investigation
In September 2022, Park Min Young was exposed by Dispatch to be dating a virtual-currency giant Kang Jong Hyun. He was later exposed to be involved with illegal business and even received a suspended sentence for embezzlement, dereliction of duty and fraudulent transaction.
After one day, the actress broke up with her ex. Her sister also resigned from being the CEO of INBIOGEN, one of Kang Jong Hyun’s subsidiaries.
However, on February 14th, SBS News gave an exclusive update that Park Min Young has been summoned as a witness by the prosecutors for her relations with Kang Jong Hyun, the suspected owner of Bithumb. The prosecutors wanted to investigate if the actress was also involved in the embezzlement and stock manipulation with her ex and found her name on a list of bank accounts, which had Bithumb’s convertible bond transactions. She is suspected to have made profits from those exchanges.

The controversy has taken a heavy toll on Park Min Young’s 17-year career. While no official statement has been released, it is clear that the actress has been heavily affected by the ongoing situation, especially when Koreans only favor actors with a clean slate.
It is too soon to give a final conclusion but it is sure that Park Min Young will have a difficult time after the scandal.
