Jungkook and Jimin suffered from xenophobic comments after a yacht trip

A yacht captain made rude and xenophobic comments targeted at BTS Jungkook and Jimin.

After releasing his solo single “SEVEN” and the MV for the title song, BTS Jungkook traveled to the U.S. to promote his new single, but not without any hurdles. The Good Morning America Summer Concert where Jungkook is set to perform is delayed after a dead body was found in a body of water near the venue. More recently, Jungkook is the target of rude comments by the captain of a yacht.

Jungkook was traveling with Jimin to attend and join talks with the GMA host. Afterward, they intended to spend some relaxing time on a boat trip in New York. While the schedule was kept private, a clip was leaked on social media when the captain of the said trip made rude and xenophobic comments about them.

In the audio, the man said, “The dude in charge… he was all, ‘You guys need to keep your phones put away, don’t talk a lot in English.’ I said, ‘Listen, bro, they’re getting on my boat, not the other way around, player.’”

The captain later shared the videos via his Instagram Stories, enraging fans. They mass-mailed BIGHIT MUSIC to inform the company about the situation and urged them to take legal against the captain for invading artists’ privacy and making xenophobic comments.

They proceeded to boycott the yachting company. After receiving so much backlash, the company had to take down its website. The company’s and captain’s social media accounts were deleted or set to private to avoid the ongoing boycott.

The website was taken down. In addition, the captain’s and the company’s social media accounts were deleted or set to private mode

Previously, many Korean artists were subjected to unfortunate incidents of racial discrimination, rude and derisive comments from reporters and waiters. Nonetheless, the artists maintained professionalism and kept composure. Currently, the public is waiting for an explanation from the yachting company and action from HYBE regarding the case of privacy invasion.
