On April 28, IU’s official YouTube channel, “이지금 IU Official,” uploaded a new behind-the-scenes video titled “I’m Hee-joo, From The Waltz Academy — Perfect Crown Behind The Scenes.” The video showed IU and Byeon Woo-seok preparing to film a yacht scene for Perfect Crown. While waiting on set, the two stars chatted casually before unexpected rain began to fall.
As the rain started, staff members quickly placed their hands above IU’s head to protect her hair and makeup from getting wet. Seeing this, Byeon Woo-seok also raised his hand above IU’s head, making a small “hand umbrella” for her. The moment immediately drew attention for its warm and playful atmosphere.
IU jokingly teased him, saying, “Only in front of the camera? I don’t think you’ve ever done this for me before.” Byeon Woo-seok quickly denied it and replied, “No, no. It’s because it has never rained in front of me before.” He then playfully added, “Didn’t you see? Even from far away, I was doing this whenever it rained.”
The exchange made the set laugh, while fans noted that Byeon Woo-seok looked just as caring in real life as his drama character, Grand Prince I-an, who protects IU’s character Seong Hee-joo. The behind-the-scenes video also revealed the story behind IU and Byeon Woo-seok’s waltz scene.
IU arrived at an indoor studio to practice the dance sequence with Byeon Woo-seok. During the lesson, however, she accidentally turned her head in the opposite direction from the instructor, creating a funny moment on set. Byeon Woo-seok noticed and told her, “No, the other way.” The instructor then stepped in to correct IU’s head position. Byeon Woo-seok encouraged her by saying, “But the direction was right. The direction itself was right.”
Even after the encouragement, IU continued to struggle adorably with the choreography. Eventually, Byeon Woo-seok used both hands to gently guide her head in the correct direction, making everyone laugh. The new behind-the-scenes clip has added to fans’ excitement over Perfect Crown, as viewers continue to enjoy IU and Byeon Woo-seok’s chemistry both on screen and off screen.
