Known for his impressive acting, handsome looks and tall stature, Gong Yoo has captured the hearts of fans.

Born and raised in Dongnae-gu, Busan, Gong Yoo had a lively childhood, often described as a “naughty child” by his parents.

Gong Yoo’s goal was to join an advertising company because of his excellent grades, but his grades fell when he entered high school, leading him to find another dream.

In 2000, while studying at the Department of Theater and Film at Kyung Hee University, Gong Yoo started his show business career as a VJ on Mnet, using his real name Gong Ji-cheol.

In 2001, Gong Yoo made his official acting debut in KBS’s drama “School 4”, playing a significant role and earning the nickname “Candy Boy”. He continued to build his acting career in dramas like “One Fine Day” and “Screen”. He made his film debut as Lee Jong-soo in “My Tutor Friend”.

In 2005, Gong Yoo hosted the music program “Music Camp” (predecessor to “Show! Music Core”) alongside actress Han Ji-hye.

His career took a significant turn in 2007 with the drama “Coffee Prince”, in which he played Choi Han-kyul, creating the “Coffee Prince Syndrome” and marking a pivotal moment in his acting career. This romantic comedy is still beloved, with a documentary commemorating its 13th anniversary in 2020.

After completing his mandatory military service, Gong Yoo returned to the screen with the film “Finding Mr. Destiny” in 2010, reuniting with his “School 4” co-star Im Soo-jung. The movie showcased their chemistry with a memorable kissing scene.

The drama achieved record-breaking ratings for a cable program, and Gong Yoo won the Best Actor award at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards.
