BTS’s RM, J-Hope and Jin made millions of dollars by selling HYBE’s shares

Three members of BTS recently made huge profits by selling about 10 billion won worth of shares of HYBE, their agency.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system on December 2nd, BTS members Jin (real name Kim Seok-jin), J-Hope (real name Jung Ho-seok), and RM (real name Kim Nam-joon) sold a total of 9.94983 billion won worth of HYBE’s shares in the market from October to early November. 

Jin reportedly sold 16,000 shares of HYBE at KRW 302,688 per share on October 19. J-Hope sold 5,601 shares in the market for 332,063 won per share on October 22. RM sold 13,385 shares in the market seven times from October 13 to November 9, with price ranging from a minimum of 282,500 won (October 13) and a maximum of 381,750 won (November 9) per share. The amount of money each member received is KRW 4.84301 billion (Jin), KRW 1.859.88 billion (J-Hope), and KRW 3.246.94 billion (RM). 

However, HYBE’s stock price rose to 421,500 won during the day on the 17th of last month even after BTS members’ transactions. In other words, the shares sold by the members is not at their highest point. BTS members made headlines for receiving HYBE’s shares from Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, HYBE’s largest shareholder at the time. All seven members received 478,695 common shares equally.

Based on the closing price (352,500 won) on December 1st, the value of HYBE’s shares Suga, Jimin, V, Jungkook currently own is 24.1 billion won, J-Hope 22.1 billion won, RM 20.4 billion won, and Jin 18.5 billion won.
