On the evening of August 2nd, RM performed at the Victory Unit Soldiers’ Day event, held by the 15th Infantry Division of the Republic of Korea Army in Hwacheon County, Gangwon Province. RM surprised the audience with a 20-minute saxophone performance during the event.
Wearing a top labeled “15th Division Military Band” and a cap with his rank, RM participated in a rehearsal before the main performance at the 2024 Hwacheon Tomato Festival. His appearance on stage in full military band uniform was unexpected, which added to the excitement of the festival.
A representative from Hwacheon County mentioned, “We weren’t aware of RM’s performance beforehand. Seeing him at the rehearsal raised our expectations. Tourists and residents who attended the festival must have had an unforgettable experience.“
RM’s impressive saxophone skills were first showcased two months ago. On June 12th, he joined BTS members to celebrate the discharge of BTS’s eldest member Jin, who completed his mandatory military service at the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province. During that event, RM played BTS’s hit song “Dynamite” on the saxophone, drawing attention.
Last month, RM celebrated the one-year anniversary of shaving his head by sharing several past selfies on his personal SNS, connecting with ARMY (BTS’s fandom) worldwide.
RM, who enlisted on December 11th, 2023, is expected to be discharged on June 10th, 2025.
