Jin will be the first member of BTS to enlist.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, BTS’s Jin will enlist on December 13th at a recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, and receive five weeks of training before being deployed to a front-line unit.
Jin announced his intention to enlist after BTS’s concert in Busan last month. In fact, after returning to Korea following the performance of his solo single ‘The Astronaut’ with Coldplay in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he filed a request for cancellation of postponement to enlist.
Jin, who is 30 years old this year, received a recommendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to postpone his enlistment in accordance with the 2020 revised Military Service Act. Therefore, his enlistment was postponed until the end of this year.
The Ministry of National Defense is in a position to provide opportunities for BTS if the members themselves wish to participate in an event for public interest or national interest after enlistment.
