BTS’s Jin Becomes Part of the Special Forces and Receives Early Promotion to Private First Class in the Military
BTS Jin is standing at the center of global attention even during his military service.
On July 9th, the birthday of BTS fandom ARMY, Jin delivered a heartfelt greeting to fans through a video that he had filmed before enlisting. Afterward, J-Hope, who recently enlisted, left a comment with a letter to fans through the fan community platform Weverse on July 8th.
Upon reading J-Hope’s letter, Jin playfully complained that it is his content and he should get paid for it, and jokingly mentioned that when he meets J-Hope during his vacation, they should avoid eye contact.
Jin also shared the news that he had become a Private First Class, stating that if J-Hope couldn’t become part of the Special Forces, it would tarnish BTS’s reputation. Jin said, “Let’s meet during vacation. Hyung became a Special Forces soldier. I’m also concerned about your schedule.”
In the military, outstanding soldiers are selected every quarter based on their combat capabilities. Those who excel in shooting, physical fitness, and mental strength are given the title of “Special Forces” soldiers.
The criteria include hitting at least 18 out of 20 shots at a distance of 250 meters, performing more than 72 push-ups and 86 sit-ups within 2 minutes, completing a 3-kilometer run within 12 minutes and 30 seconds, and meeting other standards such as a 10-kilometer rapid march carrying a 25kg combat load within 2 hours and 10 minutes, a 5-kilometer march carrying a 15kg combat load within 40 minutes, 20 leg lifts, a 2-minute and 15-second field circuit exercise, and a 1-minute and 2-second 240-meter shuttle run. They must also achieve a score of at least 90 out of 100 in mental education and meet other combat performance standards. It is known to be difficult, with only a few soldiers within a battalion passing the test.
Jin, who enlisted on December 13th last year, was originally scheduled to become a Private on September 1st. However, by becoming a Special Forces soldier, he was promoted to Private First Class two months earlier.
Despite being dubbles the “world’s most handsome man” and “vocal king,” Jin has maintained his modest and upright personality. Even after enlisting, he has proved to be an outstanding soldier by participating in the long-term project “Tennis” of BTS’s self-produced variety show “Run BTS,” showcasing his excellent athletic abilities.
