BTS’s Jimin Drops Surprise Fan Song as a Gift Post-Enlistment, ‘Closer Than This’ Out on Dec 22

‘Closer Than This’ is a song filled with sincere messages BTS Jimin wants to convey to ARMYs

While ‘Promise’ was Jimin’s first solo self-composed song released on SoundCloud on December 31, 2018, where he expressed gratitude to fans for patiently waiting, ‘Closer Than This’ is a song expressing love for fans and promises he wants to keep.

Jimin enlisted on December 12th, joining the 5th Infantry Division Training Center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, for basic military training before serving in the active-duty army.

Jimin’s solo album ‘FACE,’ released in March before his enlistment, made significant achievements, including topping Billboard Hot 100 with the title track ‘Like Crazy’ and entering Billboard 200 album chart.

In the year-end charts for 2023 released by Billboard on November 22nd, Jimin’s ‘FACE’ secured No. 193 on Billboard 200 Album chart, marking his entry as the first K-pop soloist.

‘FACE’ also charted in ‘Top Album Sales’ (No.25) and ‘Top Current Album Sales’ (No.18). ‘Like Crazy’ secured positions in ‘Global 200’ (No.61), ‘Global (excluding the US)’ (No.46), and ‘Digital Song Sales’ (No.5), while the track ‘Set Me Free Pt. 2’ reached No.29 in ‘Digital Song Sales.’
