BTS ranked first in the 2022 Asia Artist Awards’ popularity vote, which is selected by the fans themselves.
On Nov 8th, the 2022 Asian Artist Awards announced the online voting schedule for the “Idol Plus Popularity Award” and the “DCM Popularity Award” on its official website. The awards will be divided into singer and actor categories, and the winner will be decided only through the votes of global fans.
The voting began on Nov 8th and ended at 11:59 yesterday (Nov 15th).
In the online voting for the “Idol Plus Popularity Award,” BTS won with 3,708,131 votes in the singer category, while Lim Young Woong received 3,605,670 votes. The gap between the two was only 1%.
Soloists Kim Ho Joong, Kang Daniel, and Bam Bam are also in the top ranking behind the two mentioned names who were competing for the first and second place. However, the “Idol Plus Popularity Award” has been decided after a fierce showdown between BTS and Lim Young Woong. Some commented, “Lim Young Woong will be disappointed if he realizes he lost just by 1%,” and “BTS almost lost the No. 1 spot.”
In the actor category, DKZ Jae Chan topped the list with 920,123 votes, and Kim Sun Ho, who won 823,299 votes, came in second.
Meanwhile, the “2022 Asia Artist Awards IN JAPAN” will be held on December 13th, and the Gala Show “2022 AAA AFTER STAGE” will be held at Nihonkai City Hall in Nagoya, Japan, on December 14th. The MCs of this year’s Asia Artist Awards are Lee Teuk and Jang Won Young.
SEVENTEEN, The Boyz, Stray Kids, ITZY, Treasure, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, New Jeans, and Lim Young Woong have confirmed their attendance at the awards ceremony. Top actors such as Kim Sun Ho, Seo In Guk, Hwang Min Hyun, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Jun Ho, Na In Woo, Kim Se Jung, Bona, Kim Young Dae, and Park Min Young will also attend the event.
