BTS wins 3 prizes at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, marking 6 years of consecutive winning

World-famous Kpop group BTS won 3 categories at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, despite not attending. 

On May 15th (local time), Billboard Music Awards announced prior to their ceremony that BTS won three awards in the categories of “Top Duo/Group,” “Top Song Sales Artist”, and “Top Selling Song.”

Previously, BTS was nominated for 6 categories at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, including “Top Duo/Group,” “Top Song Sales Artist”, “Top Selling Song”, “Top Billboard Global Artist” (Excluding U.S.), “Top Billboard Global Song” (Excluding U.S.) for their single “Butter”, and “Top Rock Song” for their Coldplay collaboration “My Universe”. 

This marks the 6th consecutive year of BTS winning the “Top Social Artist” categories, starting from 2017.  Throughout the years, BTS steadily expanded their scope of awards, having won “Top Social Artist” in 2017 and 2018; “Top Social Artist” and “Top Duo/Group” in 2019; “Top Social Artist” in 2020; “Top Social Artist”, “Top Duo/Group”, “Top Song Sales Artist”, and “Top Selling Song” in 2021.

The three categories in which BTS failed this year, “Top Billboard Global Artist” (Excluding U.S.), “Top Billboard Global Song” (Excluding U.S.), and “Top Rock Song”, named Ed Sheeran, The Kid LAROI & Justin Biber’s “Stay”, and Måneskin’s “Beggin”, respectively.
