According to an announcement on the official website of “MTV VMAJ” on October 29, BTS was awarded the “Best Group Video/International” at this year’s awards ceremony for “Butter”. The group also took home the “Best Collaboration Video/International” for their collaboration song “My Universe” with Coldplay.
This is the 4th consecutive year that BTS won an award at “MTV VMAJ”. Starting from the “Best Group Video/International” in 2018, 7 boys grabbed the “Best Buzz Award” in 2019 as well as the “Best Group Video/International” with “Dynamite” in 2020. This is also the first time the group won 2 categories a year.
“2021 MTV VMAJ” selected the best works in a total of 18 categories among music videos released from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. They will broadcast a special episode about award-winning music videos from 9 PM on November 3. Then, the awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 25 and air on MTV JAPAN at 7 PM on December 18. Meanwhile, “MTV VMAJ” is the Japanese version of “MTV VMA”, the largest music awards ceremony in the United States. It has been held annually since 2002.
