On May 6 (local time), BTS visited the Mexican Presidential Palace at the invitation of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. After meeting with the president, the group appeared together on the balcony overlooking Zócalo Square to greet the massive crowd gathered below. BTS is currently holding their Arirang world tour and returned to Mexico for the first time in nine years.

As soon as BTS appeared and waved from the balcony, the approximately 50,000 fans who had gathered in the intense heat erupted into loud cheers. During the event, V especially moved local fans by preparing a message written in Spanish for both fans and the Mexican public.
Looking at notes saved on his phone, V greeted the crowd in Spanish, saying, “Hello. I’m not very good at Spanish, but I’ll do my best. I really missed you all so much. I truly missed Mexico. The atmosphere here is incredible. Thank you so much for loving us this much. See you again next time. Goodbye.” His heartfelt effort immediately sent the crowd into an even louder frenzy.

Another moment that gained major attention occurred when V noticed President Sheinbaum standing behind the BTS members while encouraging them to move forward. Seeing this, V gestured warmly for her to stand beside them instead and stepped aside to make space. The president responded with a bright smile and even patted him on the back. Mexican fans praised the singer’s considerate behavior, calling it the perfect example of “K-manners.”
V’s attentiveness continued when President Sheinbaum picked up the microphone to address the crowd. Noticing that the microphone was positioned too high for her, V carefully lowered and held it at a comfortable height until she finished speaking.
Across social media, V quickly became a trending topic thanks to both his prince-like visuals and thoughtful actions. Keywords such as “MEXICO LOVES TAEHYUNG,” “Kim Taehyung,” and “MUCHO PICANTE” climbed Mexico’s real-time trending charts.
According to Spotify, Mexico is currently the world’s fifth-largest K-pop consumption market, and BTS remains the platform’s most-streamed artist there. BTS is scheduled to continue their world tour performances at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on May 7, 9, and 10.
