During a media briefing held in Seoul on March 20, key figures from Netflix and HYBE emphasized the scale and significance of the collaboration. This event marks Netflix’s first-ever live-streamed music concert and also its first live event produced in Korea. The timing is equally meaningful.
BTS released their 5th full-length album ARIRANG on the same day, marking their first group comeback in nearly four years. The live performance the following evening will serve as the album’s global stage debut.
Netflix executives highlighted their long-standing confidence in Korean entertainment, noting that this project is a natural extension of their continued investment in K-content. Partnering with BTS, they said, represents the peak of that vision.

Why Gwanghwamun?
One of the most talked-about aspects of the event is its location. Rather than a traditional stadium, the concert will take place at Gwanghwamun Square, one of Korea’s most historically significant landmarks. According to HYBE representatives, the choice was intentional.
BTS’s return as a full group was seen as a historic moment, and it was important that the stage reflect both their origins and their global journey. By hosting the event in such an iconic public space, the production aims to blend Korea’s cultural heritage with modern pop performance, creating a powerful visual and symbolic statement.

Massive Scale Production
The scale of the production reflects its ambition. The live show will utilize an enormous amount of equipment, including kilometers of power cables, hundreds of communication devices, and more than 20 cameras—including specialized filming systems.
The production is led by renowned director Hamish Hamilton, known for staging global events such as the Super Bowl halftime show, the Olympics opening ceremonies, and performances by artists like Beyoncé and Madonna.

Organizers emphasized that technical stability and global accessibility were top priorities, ensuring that fans worldwide can experience the event simultaneously.
A New Era of Global Fan Experience
For both BTS and Netflix, this project goes beyond a single concert. It represents a shift in how global audiences experience music events. By combining a symbolic location, cutting-edge production, and worldwide streaming, the comeback show is designed to connect fans across borders in real time.
As one executive put it, the goal is simple but ambitious: to create a moment where “everyone can experience the greatest show on Earth together.” With BTS at the center, the event is expected to redefine not only K-pop performances but also the future of global live entertainment.
