On May 6 local time, BTS met with President Claudia Sheinbaum at Palacio Nacional, the presidential palace located in Mexico City. The group reportedly spent around 40 minutes speaking with the president before appearing together on the palace balcony to greet fans and citizens gathered outside.
Mexico City’s Zócalo Square quickly became packed with BTS fans and local citizens eager to catch a glimpse of the global stars.
Despite tight security measures, massive crowds gathered to see BTS in person. Reports estimated that nearly 50,000 people filled the area, astonishing many online viewers.

Photos from the event quickly spread across online communities, where netizens reacted with comments such as, “So they were actually least popular in their own country,” “This is unbelievable,” “I literally gasped,” “I didn’t realize Mexicans loved BTS this much,” “They’re truly world-class,” “This makes me proud,” and “Thankfully no accidents happened.”
President Claudia Sheinbaum also uploaded photos taken with BTS to her social media account and wrote, “With their beautiful and sincere presence, BTS greeted approximately 50,000 ARMYs gathered at Zócalo Square to welcome them. I’m truly happy we were able to share this joyful moment together.”

In particular, BTS’s Mexico concerts are also expected to create a major economic impact. The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce estimated that the concerts could generate approximately 107.5 million USD (around 155.7 billion KRW) in economic effects.
The expected boost reportedly includes increased spending on hotels, transportation, and tourism, further highlighting the “BTS effect” in the region.
BTS held performances at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City from May 7 to May 10.
