BTS Jimin achieved another milestone with the title track “Like Crazy” from his first solo album “FACE”
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Dec 1st (local time), Jimin’s “Like Crazy” surpassed 1 million units in sales, earning a “Platinum” certification.
The RIAA awards certifications based on digital single and album sales, with distinctions such as Gold (over 500,000 units), Platinum (over 1 million units), Multi-Platinum (over 2 million units) and Diamond (over 10 million units). The unit count includes album (physical/digital) sales, digital downloads and audio & video streaming, with weighted values assigned to each.
“Like Crazy” contrasts lively melodies with Jimin’s mournful tone, expressing empty emotions against a backdrop of intense synth and drum sounds.
“Like Crazy” is the first by a Korean solo artist to debut atop the Billboard “Hot 100” since the chart’s inception in 1958. Additionally, “FACE” broke sales records on its opening day, selling over 1 million copies, and in its first week, surpassing 1.45 million sales, making Jimin the first solo artist in Hanteo Chart history to do so.
“Like Crazy” secured the 3rd spot in the “Global Top K-Pop Songs of the Year” category in Spotify’s “2023 Wrapped year-end summary” campaign announced on Nov 30th. On the latest Billboard charts (week of Dec 2nd), it secured the 59th position on the “Global Excl. US” chart and the 109th position on the “Global 200” chart. This marked its 35th consecutive week in the rankings.
