BTS Jimin selected for Rolling Stone’s Best Album and Song in the First Half of 2023

With his solo debut in 2023, BTS Jimin has garnered significant attention and praise from an influential US media.

On June 13th, the US media outlet Rolling Stone published an article titled “The Best Albums of 2023 So Far”, which featured BTS Jimin and his solo album “FACE”.

In particular, Rolling Stone wrote, “The solo debut from BTS’s Jimin starts off with something unexpected — horns that sound like they’re coming from an energy-depleted carnival band, bleating out a few jaunty notes before completely falling into a heap. It indicates that Jimin is willing to have fun with the image he’s cultivated over the decade-plus that he’s been in the global spotlight.”

The media outlet further praised, “And while FACE does at times dwell on the existential what-ifs that plague twenty-something men who have the world’s gaze turned squarely toward them, for the most part it’s a compelling showcase of the silky-voiced singer-dancer’s pop strengths.”

On the other hand, “Like Crazy”, the title track from Jimin’s “FACE”, secured a spot on Rolling Stone’s “Best Songs of 2023 So Far”.

In their article, Rolling Stone described the chart-topping single as “dreamlike, slick, and soulful”, and about “a romance that feels to be floating just out of reach.” The media outlet also added that Jimin’s whispered snippets evoke “the intimacy of vintage Quiet storm”, while his delivery suggests “desire pushed to the brink”.

Meanwhile, it is known that through “FACE”, Jimin incorporated his own story, to the extent of considering releasing it for free and directly participating in various aspects of the album without collaborations with other famous musicians. Despite certain expectations stemming from his global fame, Jimin’s authenticity as an artist shines through on his first solo album.

With his debut as a solo artist, Jimin heightened his sincerity and deeply touched many fans. Alongside his exceptional talent, good music, and captivating performances, the BTS member’s record-breaking success and favorable reviews from renowned media outlets continue to solidify his position as a “pioneer of Kpop”.
