All members of BTS, including Jin who is on a military vacation, went to see off j-hope as he enlisted.
On April 18th, BTS j-hope will begin his military service at the 36th Division New Recruit Training Center located in Wonju, Gangwon-do. j-hope will receive 5 weeks of basic military training with around 200 soldiers and will be assigned to his unit afterward.
Previously on April 1st, BTS’s agency, Big Hit Music, stated, “j-hope is planning to enlist as an active-duty soldier in the army to fulfill his military duty, and there will be no official event on the day of entering the New Recruit Training Center.”
On the day, j-hope entered the military base by car without any separate greeting at 1:53 PM (KST), which is 7 minutes before the 2:00 PM enlistment time. BTS members, including Jin who is on vacation, were reported to be in the car as well.
In order to prevent safety accidents, the site was secured by rescue teams, medical teams, and police forces. Military authorities also made efforts in security, checking all vehicles for enlistment notifications and enlisted soldiers.
Only a very small number of ARMYs (BTS fans) visited the site on this day, keeping the promise with BTS, who asked for fans to refrain from visiting the site. Fans who attended the scene followed the control of the police and military officials, displaying a mature fan culture.
Meanwhile, BTS have begun fulfilling their military duties, starting with Jin’s enlistment on December 13th last year. The agency stated, “Our company and the members are hoping for the full-group activities of BTS around 2025.”
