BTS’ fandom spoke out against BTS being mentioned for “Jamboree Concert”

BTS’ fandom spoke out against BTS being mentioned for the “Jamboree K-pop Concert”.

On August 8th, the BTS Gallery issued a statement saying, “We firmly reject anti-democracy that pushes BTS into the abyss to revive the Republic of Korea’s national prestige, which was shattered by the ‘Jamboree incident’.”

The BTS Gallery said, “We agree that BTS needs to exert cultural influence for the Jamboree members who visited to see Korea’s dynamism and creativity, but unlike Corporal Kim Seokjin (Jin) and Private Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), who are currently members of the Ministry of National Defense, other BTS members are civilians and have no right under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of National Defense.”

They emphasized, “BTS’ entire body should thoroughly reflect the will of each member. Assemblyman Sung Il Jong’s recent behavior of putting pressure on the Ministry of National Defense by using his status as a member of the National Assembly is anti-democracy that goes against Jamboree’s purpose and spirit.

In particular, the BTS Gallery explained, “As safety on stage is desperately requested above all else, there will be a considerable mental burden on BTS members who have to prepare the best stage according to the urgent schedule in a situation where no prior discussion has been made. As the Jamboree Organizing Committee has not even verified how much preparation was made for this, and there is not enough time to conduct a thorough stage check in case of an emergency, fans cannot help expressing their concerns and lamenting.

Finally, they opposed BTS being pressured to participate in the “Jamboree K-pop Concert”, “We clearly emphasize once again that BTS’ participation in the ‘Jamboree K-pop Concert’ in accordance with the government’s coercive demand is a regression of democracy and a ‘governmental authority power abuse’.

Recently, the “2023 World Scout Jamboree” suffered from limping, and the subsidiary event “K-pop Super Live (abbreviated as Jamboree K-pop Concert)” is also facing difficulties. Originally scheduled to be held on an outdoor stage at Saemangeum in Buan, Jeollabuk-do on August 6th, the concert was postponed to August 11th. The venue was also finally confirmed as Sangam World Cup Stadium after moving around Jeonju World Cup Stadium, Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium and Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome.

Due to the change of date and location, the original performers will not be able to appear at the “Jamboree K-pop Concert”. Accordingly, a number of popular idols, including BTS, NewJeans and Seventeen, are suddenly requested to appear.
