Boy Group BAE173 Faces Controversy with Comeback Song Titled ‘FIFTY FIFTY’

On March 7th, BAE173 revealed the tracklist of their new mini-album ‘NEW CHAPTER: LUCEAT’, unveiling the title track ‘FIFTY FIFTY’ along with all song titles and credits.

Since the revelation, there has been heated debate regarding BAE173’s comeback title track ‘FIFTY FIFTY’, with remarks pointing out the association with the girl group of the same name.

Netizens expressed negative reactions such as “They aimed for controversy,” “Excessive noise marketing,” “This is too much,” “Ethical standards should be upheld,” and more.

Even BAE173 fans couldn’t hide their confusion as this controversy emerged just before BAE173’s comeback after a gap of one year and seven months since their 4th mini-album released in August 2022.

Especially considering that this comeback is BAE173’s new activity following their impressive performance in the idol survival show ‘Peak Time’, fans’ expectations are high.

Such a controversy surrounding the new song title spreading even before the comeback is disappointing the fans.

PocketDol Studio, BAE173’s agency, explained about the song’s title ‘FIFTY FIFTY’, saying, “It expresses moments of all choices appearing as 50/50, such as another self reflected in the mirror, black and white, reality and dreams, through lyrics.”

They further added, “It’s a song that explores the duality of human nature and maximizes tension with its intense sound.”

It remains to be seen whether BAE173 can overcome the unexpected controversy before their comeback and draw attention with their return through the new song ‘FIFTY FIFTY’.
