BoA honestly admitted, “I lost my voice due to a cold while recording, so I couldn’t sing at all. I recorded this song alone, and even after recording it once, I had to redo it.”

She said, “Why does this song sound so folky? I had to redo it a lot. So, I recorded the whole song about twice.” She expressed her affection, saying, “It took about five hours to record this song.”

BoA added, “Doing (song work) alone is always difficult. I asked our engineers a lot of questions. Actually, I asked them until the mixing stage. If I asked, ‘Sir, I think it sounds a bit off here, don’t you think?’ then they would be like, ‘No? Doesn’t it?’ and get flustered.”

Meanwhile, BoA celebrated her 24th debut anniversary this year. She released her new song “Emptiness” on March 26th. It is based on Afrobeat and belongs to the pop genre. The song conveys a message of resolute farewell amidst love and betrayal with composure. It encapsulates a journey of self-healing for a wounded heart.

This song is a self-composed piece where BoA took charge of composition, lyrics, and arrangement. She also actively participates as the protagonist of the music video. Set against a backdrop filled with memories and traces of past lovers, it paints a diverse emotional spectrum from emptiness to poignancy.
