A woman in her 30s has been indicted for allegedly carrying out a series of graffiti attacks targeting singer BoA across various locations in Seoul.

According to reports from Kyunghyang Shinmun on July 24, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Criminal Division 7, led by chief prosecutor Jo Yoon Chul, indicted a 38-year-old woman, identified as A, without detention on charges of insult and property damage.

A is accused of publicly insulting BoA and damaging the function of electronic display boards. Previously, in June last year, she allegedly used permanent markers to write sexually derogatory and offensive messages targeting BoA on bus stop information boards and electronic displays in areas including Gangnam, Gwangjin, and Gangdong districts in Seoul. The graffiti was reportedly carried out eight separate times.

Following the incident, BoA’s former agency SM Entertainment filed a police complaint, stating that the singer had become the victim of malicious graffiti attacks.

Reports also revealed that A had a history of repeatedly committing similar acts against celebrities. She had reportedly received multiple fines in the past for offenses including property damage related to insulting graffiti.

Meanwhile, BoA recently parted ways with SM Entertainment, the agency she had been with for 25 years since her debut. In March this year, she established her own one-person agency, BApal Entertainment, marking a new chapter in her career.
