Bloomberg Believes HYPE Is Trying To Make A Girl Group Version Of BTS

Bloomberg reported on October 11th (local time) that Bang Si-hyuk is preparing to debut the second BTS

As BTS enters a hiatus due to mandatory military service, CEO Bang is creating a new band that can appeal more to the world, according to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg explained that BTS hit the jackpot thanks to its catchy beats, powerful messages, and attractive seven young men, and the group’s success paved the way for bands such as BLACKPINK and TWICE to capture the world.

However, Bang is concerned that the Korean Wave could subside. In a recent speech, he warned that K-pop growth outside the U.S. is slowing.

This seems to be partly because BTS will have a hiatus until 2025 due to military service issues.

He said BTS will reunite, but there is no guarantee that they will enjoy the same popularity as before.

NewJeans, a girl group that recently debuted under HYPE, is also doing well, but it falls short of BTS.

As a result, CEO Bang is attempting to form a new group.

Since November 2021, he and his colleagues have been working with the goal of forming a new girl group. A total of 120,000 people applied for the project, and the final 20 were selected.

The name of the group has yet to be determined.

What is clear is that this group will be quite different from the existing groups. So far, all the groups HYPE created have been Asian and based in Seoul.

However, the new group formed this time encompasses girls from all over the world. And they will be based not in Seoul, but in the United States. And their performances will also be in English, not Korean.

CEO Bang is working on such a project under the name of “The Debut.” Bloomberg said his dream is to overcome the difference between the West and Korea.

Bloomberg also introduced his success story in detail, including the process of CEO Bang working with JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin-young.
