Blockberry Creative removes Chuu from LOONA due to her abusive remarks and power trip towards staff

LOONA’s agency released an official announcement about removing member Chuu.

On November 25th, Blockberry Creative posted a notice on the official fancafe of LOONA. The agency announced, “We decided to expel and remove artist Chuu (real name Kim Ji Woo) from the group LOONA as of November 25th, 2022.”

According to the agency, the reason for Chuu’s removal is her verbal abuse and power trip toward staff. Blockberry Creative explained, “We conducted an investigation after receiving reports about abuse of power, including verbal abuse, by Chuu toward our staff members, and found out it was true. Our company’s representative has apologized to the staff and is currently comforting them. We also decided to take responsibility by expelling Chuu from LOONA.”

The agency added, “We would like to officially apologize to the staff who were seriously hurt by Chuu’s actions and promise to do our best to help them focus on recovery and treatment”.

Lastly, Blockberry Creative said, “We sincerely apologize to fans, who have loved and supported LOONA, and would like to ask for your forgiveness as we could not keep 12 members together until the end”, adding “We will strive to repay the sacrifices and dedication of our artists and staff to prevent this from happening again.”

Rumors of discord between Chuu and her agency Blockberry Creative have circulated for a long time. It is said that the agency discriminated against Chuu as they did not provide vehicles or managers for her personal schedules. Chuu didn’t even join the recent world tour of LOONA. While LOONA members were touring, Chuu carried out personal schedules, such as appearing on entertainment programs and releasing music in Korea.

Apart from rumors of Chuu discussing an exclusive contract with other agencies, some reports in April said that the female singer planned to establish her own company. In response, Blockberry Creative said, “We didn’t know anything about that”.

“Hello. This is Blockberry Creative.

We would like to inform fans that we’ve decided to expel and remove artist Chuu (real name Kim Ji Woo) from the group LOONA as of November 25th, 2022.

Many rumors about LOONA Chuu have been circulating online this year. Our agency and LOONA members stayed silent to prevent problems because we were afraid that it would hinder the group’s development and cause concerns to fans.

Due to LOONA members’ love for their group and consideration for fans, this was our sincere expression and desire to show only good things through stages and content rather than telling the truth.

However, we recently conducted an investigation after receiving reports about abuse of power, including verbal abuse, by Chuu toward our staff members, and found out it was true. Our company’s representative has apologized to the staff and is currently comforting them. We also decided to take responsibility by expelling Chuu from LOONA.

First of all, we would like to officially apologize to the staff who were seriously hurt by Chuu’s actions and promise to do our best to help them focus on recovery and treatment so that they can quickly return to their normal life.

We sincerely apologize to fans, who have loved and supported LOONA, and would like to ask for your forgiveness as we could not keep 12 members together until the end.

In the future, our agency and LOONA will do our best to make sure that things like this won’t happen again. LOONA members have never worked only for their personal gains or benefits or done anything to cause difficulties to the team activities because they are grateful to fans who helped them reach their current position. The members will go until the end and repay the love that you give LOONA.

In addition, we will never forget to be grateful to all the staff members, who are working hard together with us. We will strive to repay the sacrifices and dedication of our artists and staff to prevent this from happening again. Once again, we apologize to the staff an fans for causing concern to you all.”
