BLACKPINK’s Lisa on her family: What her parents are like, how they supported her K-pop dreams, and more

Lisa shared heartfelt anecdotes about her family in BLACKPINK’s recent interview with Rolling Stone.

Earlier this year, BLACKPINK’s Lisa returned to her home country Thailand for the first time in 3 years and reunited with her family. She had the opportunity to celebrate her 25th birthday in Thailand after a long time of not being able to come home due to the pandemic.

Talking to Rolling Stone in the latest interview, Lisa expressed her wish to meet her parents more regularly now that travel restrictions and quarantine requirements have been lifted. Lisa said she realized her mother and father were not getting any younger, so she didn’t want to waste time being apart from them.

Lisa’s family means the world to her. When asked about her parents, Lisa shared that her father has the classic humor of a man in his 60s, while her mother is loving and sweet. Their chemistry often makes Lisa laugh.

The thing Lisa misses the most about living with her parents is their family hangouts and vacations. Lisa usually went with her parents to the mall on their “family days”. It was also a family tradition that they went on a trip overseas at least once or twice a year.

Lisa’s mom has always been extra supportive of her dream to stand on stage and her journey to become a K-pop idol. When she was a kid, Lisa’s mom signed up for her in acting and dancing classes. When Lisa danced at home, her mother was always watching and cheering her on.

Lisa had daily phone calls with her mother like back during her trainee days, and it seems like this routine hasn’t changed. Lisa recently talked to her mother and asked about her birthday plans.

When asked if she still had her money managed by her mother, Lisa said no. But this change has gotten her in trouble, because when her mother was in charge of her finances, she would not overspend like she does now.
