Distributor Lotte Entertainment announced on February 15 that the film “Omniscient Reader” is set to hit theaters this July.

Previously, it is revealed that the movie adaptation of famous Korean webtoon “Omniscient Reader” confirmed the casting of Lee Min-ho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, Park Ho-san, Choi Young-joon, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, and others. The movie officially started production in December 2023.

“Omniscient Reader” depicts the journey of Kim Dok-ja (played by Ahn Hyo-seop), who is the only one to finish a web novel serialized for ten years. However, as everything in the novel becomes true, he becomes the only one to know of future events.

With this knowledge, he embarks on an adventure to save the world with the protagonist of the novel, Yoo Joong-hyuk (played by Lee Min-ho). 

Lee Min-ho takes on the role of Yoo Joong-hyuk, the protagonist in the web novel, who possesses the ability to continuously return in time, even if he dies. Yoo Joong-hyuk is a character who survived to the end in a world that has collapsed, with an unparalleled appearance and powerful combat skills.

Ahn Hyo-seop plays the role of Kim Dok-ja, who uniquely knows the ending of the novel. Kim Dok-ja is an ordinary office worker who becomes engrossed in the serialized novel’s protagonist, Yoo Joong-hyuk, and is the only person who has read the until the end a novel that no one else reads.

Nana, Park Ho-san Jisoo

Nana, Park Ho-san, and Jisoo also joined the cast of “Reader’s Viewpoint.” They play significant roles in enhancing the tension of the drama.

In particular, Chae Soo-bin portrays Yoo Sang-ah, a former colleague of Dok-ja and an important companion in the collapsed world. Shin Seung-ho plays Lee Hyun-seong, a former soldier who appears in the novel with Yoo Joong-hyuk and eventually meets Kim Dok-ja. 

Jung Hee-won, played by Nana, is a character with outstanding attack power. Park Ho-san will add tension to the drama as Gong Pil-doo, who started as a cunning villain but later became an important part of Kim Dok-ja’s party. Choi Young-joon assumes the role of Han Myung-oh, who is originally Kim Dok-ja’s boss.

Finally, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo will appear as Yoo Joong-hyuk’s close companion Lee Ji-hye, who has overcome many crises with great combat power.

The released trailer opens with a subway train stopped in the middle of Dongho Bridge, showing Kim Dok-ja’s shocked expression as he realizes what’s happening.

As he quickly grasps that the events from the novel he was reading are unfolding in real life, the apocalyptic world in the novel materializes before his eyes.

The trailer continues with intense scenes of Dongho Bridge collapsing and the subway overturning, portraying an ordinary cityscape rapidly descending into destruction.
