BLACKPINK’s intense performance at MTV VMA, big cheers for “Pink Venom”

As BLACKPINK delivered their first performance at the American awards MTV VMA, they captivated the audience with intense charisma. 

On August 28th (local time), BLACKPINK performed their new song “Pink Venom” at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA), which was held at the Prudential Center, New Jersey, USA.

Introducing BLACKPINK, the MC of the awards ceremony called the name of each member as he said, “Kpop is gaining popularity all over the world”, and “They will perform their new single ‘Pink Venom’

On this day, BLACKPINK appeared in a black cropped outfit as the crowd erupted in cheers. Some of the audience were holding BLACKPINK’s official lightstick, which stood out.

The girl group then delivered a powerful choreography and sang live without wavering. In addition, Lisa and Jennie’s rap drew explosive reactions from local fans.

Finally, as BLACKPINK concluded their stage, the audience, fans and non-fans alike, showered the group with great applause. 

Meanwhile, at the 2022 MTV VMA, BLACKPINK was nominated in three categories, including “Group of the Year”, “Best K-Pop” (Lisa), and “Best Metaverse Performance”. They have already been announced as the winner of “Best Metaverse Performance” at the pre-show prior to the ceremony.

MTV VMA, which started in 1987, is considered one of the four major popular music awards in the United States along with the Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and American Music Awards. BLACKPINK is the first female K-pop artist to be invited to the MTV VMAs stage.
