The group BLACKPINK achieved another meaningful record on the world’s largest music platform – Spotify.
According to the agency YG Entertainment on the 5th, Blackpink‘s ‘Ice Cream‘ surpassed 400 million streams on Spotify. After ‘Kill This Love’, ‘How You Like That’, and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, this is Blackpink‘s 4th song to reach this milestone.
‘Ice Cream’ is a song that Blackpink collaborated with world-famous pop star Selena Gomez. It was a cute and refreshing concept that the group tried for the first time, and it drew more attention because it was a pop genre song with a simple rhythm and light sound.
The song topped the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart right after its release, and reached #13 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, breaking the top ranking of K-pop girl groups. In addition, it succeeded in the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks in a row, receiving favorable reviews from domestic and foreign music fans.
The popularity of ‘Ice Cream’ is still ongoing. Not only the number of Spotify streaming, but also the music video has recently surpassed 700 million views on YouTube, proving its powerful ripple effect.
BLACKPINK has more than 28.5 million official Spotify followers, the largest number of girl groups in the world. The number of their YouTube channel subscribers also exceeds 72.6 million, making it the top artist worldwide.
