BLACKPINK surpasses 2.1 billion views with “DDU-DU DDU-DU” MV, 1st among Kpop groups

According to news reports, BLACKPINK has become the 1st Kpop group to surpass 2.1 billion views on YouTube with one MV. 

On July 31st, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” MV has exceeded 2.1 billion views on YouTube at 4:27 PM (KST) the day before. This remarkable achievement comes approximately five years and one month after the MV’s release on June 15, 2018.

“DDU-DU DDU-DU” continues to break its own records on YouTube, becoming the first and highest-viewed K-pop group music video, thanks to the unwavering love from global music fans. With the video frequently refreshing views every minute and second, new milestones are expected in the future.

“DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the title track of BLACKPINK’s first mini-album, “SQUARE UP.” Its addictive chorus and striking choreography, resembling shooting guns with both hands, captivated audiences worldwide, making it the most-watched Kpop music video in 2018.

The song also achieved remarkable success on various global charts. It reached 40th and 55th place on the US Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts, respectively, marking the highest rank for a K-pop girl group at that time. The track garnered over 600 million streams on the world’s largest music platform, Spotify.

BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel boasts more than 90.3 million subscribers, surpassing all Kpop artists and securing the top spot worldwide. With 43 videos surpassing 100 million views and a total of over 32.4 billion accumulated views, they are considered the “YouTube Queens,” consistently breaking and setting new records at every moment.
