In the same topic, the author asked, “If you were to pick K-pop’s top girl group of all time, would you choose BLACKPINK or Girls’ Generation?”, drawing numerous comments showing mixed opinions.

Below are some comments from Korean netizens:

  • BLACKPINK triumphs overseas and Girls’ Generation take the throne in Korea
  • They are groups from different generations, so it’s useless to compare
  • BLACKPINK is unbeatable since they enjoyed huge popularity overseas
  • Girls’ Generation was definitely the top girl group during the 1st and 2nd Gen, but since 3rd Gen, it has been BLACKPINK
  • Girls’ Generation for Korea, BLACKPINK for the rest of the world

It is known that Girls’ Generation, who debuted in 2007, set a new standard for K-pop girl groups at the time with legendary achievements. During their time, Girls’ Generation not only enjoyed success on the digital charts, but also stood alongside boy groups in terms of album sales.
