BLACKPINK successfully completed Japan tour, filling the void left by Jisoo

Despite Jisoo’s absence due to COVID-19, BLACKPINK has successfully completed their 2nd Japan dome tour.

On June 3rd and 4th, BLACKPINK held the “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] JAPAN” at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan for two consecutive days. Previously, they met with 110,000 fans at Tokyo Dome in April and added 100,000 more in Osaka, attracting a total of 210,000 spectators with 4 shows in 2 cities in Japan.

Kyocera Dome holds significance for BLACKPINK as it is the venue where they set a new record, becoming the “fastest overseas girl group to enter” in terms of debut time. With fierce competition, BLACKPINK achieved sold-out shows for all the performances, and the accompanying pop-up store also proved the extraordinary interest from local fans.

On the other hand, due to testing positive for COVID-19, Jisoo was unable to participate in this Osaka concert. To keep their promise with the fans who had been waiting for a long time, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa decided to tackle the stage as a trio.

Regarding her absence, Jisoo expressed her apologies to the fans, saying, “I hope to be a great source of support and encouragement to the members who will perform harder on stage.” As if to reciprocate fans for their explosive cheers, BLACKPINK opened the show with their powerful energy, performing “How You Like That.”

At the time, BLACKPINK also expressed their joy at being able to come back (to Osaka) and said, “Jisoo couldn’t come, so she was very worried and regretful, and missed Osaka fans. The three of us will work hard on behalf of sister Jisoo, so please enjoy the show with excitement.”

In the end, the members filled in Jisoo’s absence with their captivating stage presence and overwhelming performances, showcasing a series of mega-hit songs like “Pretty Savage,” “Whistle,” “Lovesick Girls,” “Kill This Love,” “Shut Down,” and “DDU-DU DDU-DU.” The concert was further enhanced by the rich live band sound and high-quality production, which demonstrated YG Entertainment’s concert expertise, igniting the audience’s enthusiasm.

From various solo performances filled with various charms to the encore stage, BLACKPINK tirelessly captivated the crowd and expressed their gratitude to local fans, who showed unwavering love. Meanwhile, fans applauded and cheered for the members who interacted with them throughout the stage, eagerly anticipating their next meeting.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently conducting their largest-scale world tour, “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]”, which attracts approximately 1.5 million audiences.

After successfully concluding the Japan Dome Tour, the group will head to Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, where Rosé spent her childhood. Then, in July, they will take the stage as the first K-pop artist to headline the “British Summer Time Hyde Park”, a music festival in the UK.
