BLACKPINK has become the winner in the category of ‘Top K-pop Tour’ at the ‘2023 Billboard Music Awards’
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), held in a non-face-to-face format on the morning of the 20th (Korean time), were broadcasted differently this time, with the ceremony being prerecorded and then publicly released. On this day, BLACKPINK was named as the winner in the category of ‘Top K-pop Tour,’ one of the newly established awards in the K-pop section. This marks BLACKPINK’s first win at the BBMAs.
This year’s awards ceremony featured 69 categories, including nominations for ‘Top Duo/Group’ with Fifty Fifty, ‘Top Billboard Global Artist (excluding the U.S.)’ with NewJeans, and ‘Top Selling Song’ with the song ‘Like Crazy’ by BTS member Jimin.
Furthermore, starting this year, four new K-pop categories have been introduced, including ‘Top Global K-pop Artist,’ ‘Top K-pop Tour,’ ‘Top K-pop Album,’ and ‘Top Global K-pop Song,’ generating even more anticipation.
Meanwhile, the Billboard Music Awards is considered one of the top three music awards in the United States, alongside the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards. This year’s ceremony also featured performances by Stray Kids and NewJeans.
