A new episode of MBC’s Radio Star has caught attention after actor Kang Young Seok shared a sweet story involving BLACKPINK’s Jisoo — sparking interest in their unexpectedly close friendship.

In the episode titled “Box Office Lupin,” featuring Kang Ha Neul, Kim Young Kwang, Kang Young Seok, and Kang Ji Young, Kang Young Seok opened up about his career and personal anecdotes from recent projects.

Kang Young Seok, who began his career in theater with the musical Hwarang and has since appeared in dramas like Shall We Kiss First?, 100 Days My Prince, and Welcome to Samdal-ri, as well as films such as Waiting for Rain and The First Ride, delighted the audience with behind-the-scenes stories and humor.

BLACKPINK Jisoo Kang Young Seok special gift

He revealed his long-standing friendship with actor Kang Ha Neul, whom he met while studying at Chung-Ang University’s Department of Theater and Film. The two showed their easygoing chemistry, with Kang Young Seok joking that Ha Neul once bought him a new phone — which quickly became outdated after a month when a new model was released.

The conversation then shifted to Kang’s upcoming film The First Ride, where he plays a monk. He revealed, “I decided to shave my head for real instead of wearing a wig,” before sharing a hilarious incident that occurred during the filming of the series Newtopia, where he co-starred with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo.

He confessed that his decision to shave his head accidentally caused some inconvenience to Jisoo and the crew, which led to laughter in the studio. However, he added that Jisoo later surprised him with a “special gift,” raising curiosity among both the hosts and viewers about their off-screen relationship.

In addition, Kang explained why his previous appearance on Radio Star didn’t go as planned, recalling a funny “bathroom emergency” moment during filming. “I was so desperate to go to the restroom but couldn’t say anything — I was sweating,” he said, laughing. “After that, I stopped drinking coffee during recordings.”
