During the talk, Jennie revealed her earliest memories when moving to New Zealand at the age of 10, “The only thing I can say when I went to New Zealand was, ‘Hi, my name is Jennie.’ The scary part is I adjusted my lifestyle there within the six months. I was so happy to be around nature and have a different educational life than I have back in Korea.” She added that, because she lived in a Korean homestay, she was surrounded by Korean culture and not losing touch with her Korean roots.

After passing the YG audition, the “SOLO” singer said she was inspired to bring Korean music to the world as she got to learn about herself and her country of origin.

BLACKPINK is gaining global recognition through world-renowned music festival stages. Recently, the girl group headlined Coachella 2023 and the BST Hyde Park. They are also on their “BORN PINK” World Tour, attracting about 1.5 million people.

During the podcast, Jennie openly discussed her “lazy dancing” controversy that emerged earlier.

She said, “But I haven’t had the moment to say this. But I want to say that I did not know how to control my body. And like use my body the way I should.” At some point, Jennie expressed disappointment in herself for not bringing her best performance onstage, stating, “So I feel like I’ve disappointed my fans at some point of my life where it seemed like I wasn’t giving my best […] but I want to say that I did not know how to control my body and use my body the way I should.” Nonetheless, she said, “I wanted to share with my fans that I’m still at a point where I’m learning about myself,” hoping to show fans she is on a long but rewarding journey of self-improvement.

In response, Dua Lipa empathized with Jennie, saying, “Figuring yourself out while you’re also in the public eye can be a little bit scary,” adding, “Not everybody really knows what happens behind the scenes, so I think it’s really nice to be to share those moments.” She continued with words of encouragement, “But I assure you, you’re doing a really good job and you’re not letting anybody down whatsoever.”

At the same time, Jennie also spent some time talking about her members and their paths as soloists. She showed genuine interest in other BLACKPINK members’ decisions to go solo and hope they would gain more respect as artists.

Finally, Jennie publicly talked about the HBO series “The Idol” for the first time. She said that it was an aspect that she had always wanted to explore more. Furthermore, it aligned with her “nerdiness.” The rapper said, “Honestly, I’m a nerd. Is that bad to say? Like, no, I truly believe I’m a nerd, like, I love learning new things. And like, experimenting new things. When I’m off work, I would randomly go to a pottery class or go to learn French,” showing her natural curiosity about life around her.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is approaching the group’s contract renewal period. Currently, no official news about the BLACKPINK members’ contract status has been released.
