Swedish actor Björn Andresen, internationally known as “the world’s most beautiful boy,” has passed away at the age of 70. The news was confirmed on October 27 by his younger sister, Annike Andresen, in a heartfelt tribute posted on Instagram.

Andresen rose to global fame for his hauntingly ethereal performance as Tadzio, the Polish boy who captivates an aging composer in Luchino Visconti’s 1971 film Death in Venice (魂斷威尼斯). His angelic looks and melancholic aura captivated audiences, earning him the title of “the most beautiful boy in the world” — a label that would follow him throughout his life and career.
Annike shared that Björn passed away on October 25, and while she refrained from specifying the exact cause of death, she mentioned that he had been battling illness for a long time. “I lost my beloved brother, and Robine lost her dear father,” she wrote, referring to Andresen’s daughter.

Their close sibling bond was evident through Annike’s emotional tribute. She expressed deep sorrow, writing, “I miss you so much. I wish you the most beautiful journey to heaven and hope you are reunited with those you loved who went there before you.” She added that those waiting for him “will rejoice in your wonderful music, your infectious smile, and your beautiful poet’s soul.”
Andresen’s life story was one of both fame and struggle. His early stardom, thrust upon him as a teenager, left a lasting impact. In recent years, he was the subject of the documentary The Most Beautiful Boy in the World (2021), which explored the psychological toll of sudden fame and the pressures he faced as a child star.
He is survived by his daughter Robine, and remembered by fans across generations for a face that once defined cinematic beauty, and a soul that, as his sister described, was filled with music and poetry.
