BigHit takes legal action against perpetrators of malicious rumors about BTS 

BTS’s agency, BigHit Music, has announced to take legal measures against malicious commenters. 

On March 29th, BigHit Music released a notice on Weverse, which reads, “We have recently filed a number of complaints with investigative agencies based on the reports from fans, as well as evidence of insulting and defamatory posts collected through self-monitoring.”

The company recognized the ongoing situation, saying, “Disseminating obvious falsehoods around specific sites for the purpose of insulting individual artists is becoming serious,” adding, “Even if it is cleverly written to avoid the law, we strictly respond to the the posters to be brought to justice by applying legal provisions according to the type of each post.”

BigHit also expressed their firm position on the issue, “The process of collecting evidence, reporting, and taking legal actions against malicious posts directed at BTS are currently ongoing. We want to make it clear that we will continue to take strict action against the alleged perpetrators in order to eradicate wrongdoings against the artists, without any agreement or leniency.”

After Jin’s enlistment in the military, BTS is working more diligently on their solo activities. Jimin is the latest member to have a solo debut with “Face” and the title track “Like Crazy.”

“Hello. This is BigHit Music.

We regularly take legal action against the authors of malicious posts, including defamation, insults, sexual harassment, dissemination of false information, and malicious slander against BTS. We would like to inform you of the progress on this matter.

We have recently filed a number of complaints with investigative agencies based on the reports from fans evidence of insulting and defamatory posts collected through self-monitoring.

Disseminating obvious falsehoods around specific sites for the purpose of insulting individual artists is becoming serious. We are fully aware that the types of malicious posting are changing. Even if it is cleverly written to avoid the law, we strictly respond to the the posters to be brought to justice by applying legal provisions according to the type of each post.

In the case of a defendant who has made a large number of malicious posts in the past and continues to make posts without any signs of remorse even though one is currently under investigation, we would like to inform you that all new posts have been captured and collected.  We have filed a complaint with the investigative agency.

The collection, reporting, and legal action against malicious posts directed at BTS are currently taking place. We want to make it clear that we will continue to take strict action against the alleged perpetrators in order to eradicate wrongdoings against the artists, without any agreement or leniency.
