Big Hit dismisses plagiarism suspicions regarding BTS Jungkook’s ‘Seven’

BTS member Jungkook’s side has dismissed allegations of plagiarism regarding his solo song ‘Seven’.

On the 22nd, their agency Big Hit Music stated, “The claims of copyright infringement related to Jungkook’s ‘Seven’ are not true.”

They further explained, “‘Seven’ is a song created through collaboration with five foreign composers and has no connection to a song from a domestic album 24 years ago that some have claimed. The allegations made by some, based on criteria like substantial similarity and evidence, do not meet any standards for determining plagiarism.”

On the same day, there were allegations that ‘Seven’ borrowed significant portions directly from the 2000 song “Masked Time” by the group Fin.K.L. Composer Yang Joon Young, who composed “Time of Mask,” sent documentation, including digital files and a comparison of the musical sequences of the two songs, to HYBE Labels to request a response.
