According to the Army and the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) on the 11th, Seungri will be sent to a boot camp in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province on the 25th. Because he has already received the draft notice from the military, his enlistment won’t be postponed.
The police have taken Seungri as a suspect in connection with allegations of sex trafficking, which were raised on the 10th, 12 days after the internal investigation began.
The current Article 60 of the Military Service Act stipulates the postponement of military service inspection and enlistment, but the investigation so far alone will still ensure that his military entry will be as normal.
According to the regulation, the head of the local Military Manpower Administration is allowed to delay the conscription or summons of those who are arrested for crimes or are in prison for execution.
With about two weeks left before Seungri’s enlistment, if the police and prosecutors cannot secure any clear evidence, Seungri will be enlisted as planned.
If Seung-ri joins the military during a police investigation, the case will be transferred to the military police corps, and if he joins the military during the investigation phase, the case will be sent to the prosecutors’ office. It is possible to cooperate with investigators who are not military police, but it will slow them down.
“We know that related procedures will be carried out at the Military Manpower Administration,” an army official said in a briefing on the day. “We will take necessary steps at the army when Seungri comes.“
